The indexable cutting tool is a type of tool that has a pre-machined polygonal blade with a number of cutting edges. The tool is clamped to the body by means of a rigid clamp. When a cutting edge is dulled in the course of use, just loosen the clamping of the blade, index or change the blade so that the new cutting edge enters the position and can be used continuously by clamping. The tool shown in the figure below shows the changeable blade of the indexable end mill.
Indexable cutters have two features compared to welded and community cutters. One is a blade mounted on the body and at least two pre-machined edges are available. The second is that the position of the cutting edge after the indexing blade is fixed on the tool body and how many parameters are the same.
Compared with welding tools, indexable inserts have the following characteristics: The insert becomes an independent result component, its cutting performance has been expanded and improved; the rigid clamping restrains the influence and limitation of the welding process, and is more conducive to selecting various The blade of the material, and fully play its cutting performance, thereby improving the cutting efficiency; the cutting edge space position relative to the body is solid and stable, saving the time required for the tool change, knife and so on, and improve the utilization of machine tools
Due to the high cutting efficiency of the indexable cutting tool and the low funding time, the ergonomics are improved, and the tool body of the indexable cutting tool can be reused, which saves steel and manufacturing costs, and therefore has good economy. The growth of indexable cutting tools has greatly promoted the advancement of tooling skills. At the same time, the specialized and standardized production of indexable cutting tools has promoted the growth of the blade manufacturing process.
